Solve a mystery

I know this is not a big deal, But as I was looking Thur my 2010 owners manual, I noticed that the base engine on a VLX is a 330 LCR, So I looked at some of my paper work, and engine decals say 320 LCR & on the Indmar website it says 320 LCR, Where did Malibu come up with the 330 LCR?

2009 the LCR was 320hp. 2010 the LCR went to 330hp. At least according to the spec sheets. So ... either your motor got the wrong stickers or your boat got a left over 2009 LCR.

EDIT: 3rd option ... the spec sheets are wrong and the LCR is still 320 hp. :dontknow:

I know that 10 Hp is not a very big difference I was just confused, and the indmar web site still shows a 320 LCR, no mention of a 330 LCR. You would think indmar would have an accurate web site?? So the question still remains???is there a real indmar 330 LCR?? :rtfm:http://www.indmar.com/ProductLine/Malibu/index.html Edited by Wakesetter67

The LCR went to 330 hp in 2010. Click on this link and then scroll down to the available engines. If you check 2009 the hp on the LCR was 320.

Edit: Durrrrr... I didn't see your statement where you say your motor says 320hp. Does your engine say that or does your paperwork say that? Get the serial number off your engine and call Indmar, they will tell you which one it is.

Everyone says Indmar has great customer service but their web site sure isn't up to date...

:plus1: Just send them an e-mail with your questions and serial number and they will respond quickly with an explanation.

Ok I think I solved the Mystery, I just Talked to Pat in the tec dept. of Indmar engines, He said and I quote" To the best of my knowlege we do not have an 330 LCR, It Is an 320 LCR, He also said that they do not give out the HP raitings and that Malibu will do that. So there you go. Malibu some how added 10 HP when they installed it in a 2010 VLX. I wish it was that easy, So as I see it, By the time Indmar ships it to Malibu, it will surely add 10 HP, Or Maybe Malibu adds a K & N Filter and some Amsoil to get the extra HP...

It has been my experience that the best thing to do with a Malibu Owners manuals is to throw it out of the window on the way home from the dealership. Just toss it out.

For such a high end boat, Malibu should really invest a little time and money into a proper owners manual with at least a little bit of information specific to the boat you bought.

My manual from 2002 is a complete joke. Errors left and right, most pages dedicated to generic boating tips...a complete waste.

The engine manual from Indmar, on the other hand, is a proper manual and should be read from cover to cover. Twice.

They also have another mistake in their yearly 2011 Malibu Boats catalog:

"And if it’s more power you want, you will love the new 6.1lt L96 Indmar Engine. This standard small block pumps out 410 horsepower with Variable Valve Timing (VVT), for zero compromise on either end of the performance spectrum."

There is no 6.1L... there is a 6.0 and a 6.2SC.....

So Malibu just adds non-existent hp to a 308 hp engine?

Don't believe one quote over another quote without verification. Forums are full of hypothesis, often created from the desire to believe what we read.

But this is a quote directly from Indmar. Adds credibility.

Pete SWM has a great point, about this needing to be fact checked. I would like to see what other dealers and engine nut has to say.

I do believe the K&M filter would add a few HP, if Indmar testing is with a standard air filter.
