VTX Wake Hull or Cut diamond hull?

Hi everyone

I am looking to buy a Wakesetter VTX and here in Australia US imports are plentiful as our dollar has recently hit parity with the US dollar.

Can someone please help me out with a simple problem?

I have ridden behind a mates VTX and loved the wake, but recently test drove a VTX and it seemed very flat. We had full ballast tanks with the wedge down.

Could it be the hull? The seller has suggested it is the wake hull, but I don't think he really knows. I am thinking it is the cut diamond hull. He has admitted importing the boat just to make a dollar.

Can anyone tell me how different the two hulls are? How can I tell just by looking at it? If i post the serial number can someone put it into the US Malibu database and confirm what hull it is?

Could it be the prop? Does a different prop make for flatter wakes for barefooters and slalom skiers?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, it is nice to go looking at boats armed with knowledge rather than questions. The serial number of the boat is question is US-MB2F9588D808

I hope the snow storms we see on the news have passed and aren't giving you guys too much grief!!

Cheers and thanks

DAVE

thanks for the reply...seems like it is a diamond hull from pics supplied.

unsure about the serial no. though, it says monsoon and power wedge - we have 320 and manual wedge!

Thanks for the reply anyway

I've got a diamond cut hull and you can get a great wake out of it with just a little extra weight. Looks like this one is missing the front ballast, which is more likely the cause of the wake being a little flat than the diamond cut hull. Add some weight up there and you'll get a nice solid wake. The diamond cut hull doesn't really effect the wake that much at wakeboarding speed. you really see the hull impact around 30mph
