Engine Temp & Oil Pressure Spike

Time to start thinking about an issue I had last year on the final run. When I flip on my heater both the oil pressure and the engine temp hit max on the gauge. Turn off the heater and everything goes back to normal. Any ideas? Thanks

Sounds like you have a loose ground wire and its back feeding through the guages, start checking all ground connections, under dash and on switches and guages.

That makes sense, the heater was new in 2009 so the ground may have come loose.

IF boat gauges work the same way automotive gauges then I can tell you that the gauges are grounding out when you operate the heater.

The gauges will peg out whenever the circuit is grounded.
