Is there balsa in a 05 wakesetter,

Recommended Posts

Last fall when we winterized the Bu, a friend of mine has a humidity reader and we checked the boat every where and found 100% humidity under the boat near

the prop. The transom is 0% and all the other part of the boat is 0%. The only place we found humidity was right under the motor.

Is there Balsa in Malibu sandwich construction. There light crack around the prop. support. I am wondering if humidity can be trapped

under the gel-coat.

Do you keep your boat in the water when not in use? Fiberglass can absorb water ... waxing can help prevent that.

Is there water under the engine that can be hard to get out ... find a steep hill and or a wet vac to get it all out.

There is space between the hull and the bilge liner, if I were a betting man I'd say you have some water trapped in there.

V-drive boats don't have a bilge liner, only direct drives like your boat.

Malibu's have been 100% composite since 1993 so you don't have any wood in the boat to speak of. If your worried about moisture you could always put a dehumidifier in the boat.

Didn't even think about that, thanks for the correction Paul.
