Led's on Trailer?

Well Boatmate sells the entire kit 135 and they have 12 LED if you get them for 6 bucks each that's $72 right there they gotta make a little dough and the other parts lets say cost 30 -35 for the switch so I would say for 20 or 30 bucks more might make sense if you cant find the lights...looks like you need to by the lights in Bulk of 50.

I would say worth the 135...it creates jobs  IMHO

There is also the gaskets for each light, wiring, clamps etc..I think for the ease $135 is worth it. I have no issues with supporting Boatmate...

I wired 15' of underwater flexible blue LEDs on each side of my trailer to a swtich in the cab.

Looks good, any picks of the lights up close or the install?

Love the guide lighting.

Thanks man. It certainly helped my wife to see the pylons when pulling out at night. Clap.gif

If someone rear ends my boat they are legally blind. LOL.gif

Here is the part list. Now the pictures I've seen, it looks like most trailers only have 8 or 10 lights.

Thanks for the links. I'm disappointed in google. I searched high and low for those and even with the PN never found them!

You will need to drill a 3/4" hole in your main rail of your trailer for every light, I have a set that I haven't installed yet. It's on my list for winter upgrades!

Any luck on the install yet? Are you going to use the float switch or will you be adding a second switch to enable you to turn them on at anytime?

I haven't been able to get to it yet, my boat is still at the dealers for warranty repairs. I will be running a switch from the truck to turn them on. I should be getting the boat back soon and will start on it then.

I was wondering how to wire them up. Is there space on the existing harness (7 prong Extreme is what I have) or will you simply run a 2 prong plug just for the running lights? I was also thinking about a switch on the trailer or just having a 2 prong plug off the existing trailer lights that I could just plug in..thoughts?

I am just going to run these. 8-10 lights will run me $50-$65 plus wiring.

I asked Extreme Trailers and they tell me there is an extra pin on the harness (12v accessory). I believe it is just to the right of center. I guess I could wire a switch into then... thoughts?

My trailer uses a flat 4 connector, but I'm debating on going to a barrel connector. I think it would be sweet to use an extra pin for auxiliary trailer lighting. Thumbup.gif

Where would the best place be to tie in a switch? I would assume the harness would tie into the fuse box so I could locate the 12v accessory there?

Yeah, feed the line side of the switch with a wire from a spare fuse. If you can't find one in your fuse box you could always tie into a +12V wire on the truck and put an inline fuse close to your tie in. Then run the load side of the switch to the pin on the barrel plug under the truck. Thumbup.gif

Here is a better diagram http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx..looks like I want to tie into the red (aux) wire on the trailer and the red or black wire in my truck. I have to do a search for a wiring diagram for a 07 Tundra and I will be golden. Should terminate at the fuse box.

Dang - if your truck already has the wire run that would be sweet. My 71' Ford didn't come with that option. LOL.gif
