Doesn't seem like there's a different material on the end R020027.jpg. Mine looked worse than yours at the beginning of last year so I replaced it. I don't know how long it was there, but assume since the boat was new. It's a pretty inexpensive part from SkiDim < $30 shipped when I bought it.)

Edit - OOPS - different year/version of knock sensor.

My initial thought was just to replace the sensor but after looking at the picture on skidim it appeared to be made of all the same material so I thought there was a chance it was not the correct one or possibly a cheeper version without the added protection of the anode.
