Is it the Fuel pump?

Recommended Posts

Hi, First time user, hope you can help.

I have a 97 Sunsetter lx with a monsoon 320 efi. The other day while driving it, it simply cut out, re started again and off it went. following day same but would not start till i messed with wires to what i think is fuel pump. It is located near oil filter and definately is part of fuel system,it makes a whizzing sound 2 secs before I start (when it starts) and I dont recall hearing it when It did not. If it is, is there a supplier who can mail one to Australia as my boat is US built then imported Which the local dealers are not to keen to help as they try to support the Australian built boats.

Any help apreciated

Do you have a safety kill switch? if so that could be the culprit. I used a jumper on mine to bypass the switch so my boat would quit just cutting off. As mentioned above the pump runs so I would be chaseing an electrical issue.

Fuel filter is near new due to previous owner having a bad batch of fuel.

I suspected bad pump because someone mentioned it sounded a bit loud and the bad fuel may have damaged it.

I have not checked kill switch,I will do.

Thanks .

Stan.
