Carbon Fiber Dash

As part of my quest to install a Perfect Pass system on my 1996 Sunsetter, I needed to get a custom dash made to house the larger tach. So, obviously, I went with carbon fiber! :) I contacted Marcus at Central Composites here in Bend to get the job done and it turned out great! Here's a look at the old dash:

I gave my new tach to Marcus and together we did a new custom layout to fit everything and to update the look and feel of the dash. Here's what we ended up with for a new plate - old aluminum dash plate is on the bottom, new carbon fiber one on the top:

Everything fit great! I had to do a little bit of re-wiring of the new tach due to some changes in the connections on the back from my old one, but I'm VERY pleased with the result. I plan on getting some sort of Malibu graphic to put on the bottom in the blank space, so I'll post more once I get that done:

If anyone's interested, Marcus does great work, so I hope it's okay if I post some info about him. You can reach him at 541-280-6704 or email him at [email protected] He can also do standard panels, switch panels, or layup custom 3D work if you have a newer dash and/or want to have some depth to it. If anyone else is interested in a project like this, I'd definitely recommend him.

As always, I'm happy to answer any questions about this project or any of my other projects that I'm working on.

Made an update to the dash panel with a little help from Bake's  It needed to have some sort of Malibu logo on it and Paul suggested the newer aluminum emblem...
