Who's added bags to stock ballast pumps / tanks?

I saw one other post while searching where it seemed another fellow was going to implement this system. He planned (just like I do) on getting a 400 lb bag for each locker, then taking the overflow hose from the hard tank and using that is the input for the extra bag, then finally re-routing the overflow tube from the sack to the existing overflow through hull.

The post I saw as very small without many responses and someone named liljohn commented that he thought it would work too until he tried it and mentioned that the stock pumps couldn't hold the water back and that it leaked out. I'm a little confused by this because I assumed there would be check valves in the existing system.

Has anyone here successfully wired some extra locker bags into the existing stock pumps? I really like the idea of not having to add pumps to the system to keep simplicity high and cost low. From my perspective I'm assuming it won't take that long to fill that extra 400lbs per pump.

this is easy to do but it will require some one way vlaves or shut off valves. I have it done like this but do not like it that much. It works fine but I like to only fill the factory sometimes so I have to watch it to make sure that the bags do not fill. I am adding pumps this winter so that they will have there own pumps.

Mind if I ask where you plan on housing the additional switch(s) on the dash? My problem with adding pumps is that I feel I can never find enough space on the dash for switches. I really wish it were possible to get some extra aux switches on the dash. Once you get some tower lights, tower speakers, extra ballast, and any other odds or ends those switches can find uses really quick. What about where you purchase the switches that look the same as the ones on the dash?

This is what I did - Luckily I found the switch base from my dealer cheep because the remote did not fit. Well a little dremel work and all is good He also ordered the MLS switches with the arrows for a custom look.

The absolute easiest and most foolproof way to add a bag using the existing pump is with this valve. You let your stock tank fill and then flip the lever to direct flow to your add a bag. It's best to add a separate drain pump on the added bag as well, makes things so much easier. Costs a little more but so does doing it right the first time. The valve takes the outpute hose from the stock ballast pump and either directs it to your stock tank or the bag you added.

Tried about everything and nothing works better than this.

I have my rear lockers set up exactly like this and yes the stock drain pump couldn't hold the water (only when filling, not when the fill pump is off). I put a ball valve in each locker, so when the water starts coming out the drain hose when I am filling the sacs I just close the valves. It cost me about $20, found valves at lowes - about 1 hour of my time rerouting hoses and putting the valves in.

It takes about ten minutes to fill my stock tank and a 400lb sac (the malibu pumps may be faster then Axis). About the same time it takes to fill my 950 lb bow sac.

My vote goes to WakeMakers.com in Oregon. Intelligent conversation on how to handle these things, especially if it's a Malibu. I'm in an '04 LSV, did their swap out system in pulling the rear hard tanks and replacing with 750 sac's, used existing plumbing. Took less than 45 minutes for both sides. Could not be happier.

Richard.
