Monsoon 340 Knock sensor location

Chevy Malibu

Recommended Posts

Hello , looking for info from you professionals out there , I was winterizing my 340 monsoon today and on the lower block you have to remove the knock sensors to drain it , is it possible to put a tee in for installing a quick drain then install the knock sensor , or does the sensor need to be screwed right in to the block ? any info would be great ,

The knock sensor has to be attached directly to the block in order to work correctly.

Correct, it screws up the timing if you put anything in between. Go buy a stubby 7/8" wrench to make it easier to remove, that will be more worth your money.

Yes , take the nut off and the sensor will slide off then with a 1" deep socket remove plug to drain the block ,

So the knock sensor is the only drain location for each side of the block? I searched and searched yesterday but those are the only two drain spots I can find.

I believe so ...., I checked both sides of my block and could find nothing and ended up removing both knock sensors to drain it ,
