I've been doing this with my knock sensor too. Really helps this time of year when you "winterize" after every outing.

Thought teflon tape acted as an acoustic damper on the knock sensor which can make less sensitive to knock frequencies in the block...

Could be. Someone else told me that only having it threaded in finger tight would also cause problems. Haven't felt a thing in 3 yrs.

Indmar told me their a lot less sensitive than most people think.

Another option is Anti-seize. I use it on exhaust manifold bolts and it works very well. Should work well on knock sensor, hull plugs, and many many other applications.

I do not use it on the Knock sensor. Just the T handle.
