3 year gel coat warranty??

Hi There,

Can anyone help? I have been talking to the local dealer here and he told me that there is a three year warranty on the gel coat. Everyone else has said it is one year. Has this recently changed? Is there any resources available to read over the warranty statement in full. I specifically asked if the 3 years included the gel coat. I want to make sure on this point as it seems to be a problem across the industry. I know that mastercraft has a 1 year gel coat warranty, but they have fixed a couple of boats at our lake, that were outside of the 1 year. I thought that was fairly impressive. I want to buy the 2011 VLX - just doing my due dilligence. Has anyone got anything to say about, good or bad, about the new WakeSetter?

Thanks

Not to confuse you any farther but I'm pretty sure the gel warranty is 2 years. Can't prove that right now, can't seem to find the source. With that said, I had gel work warranteed just before my full 3 year warranty expired. Malibu's warranty dept is great to work with. Not that you should buy a boat expecting them to bend the rules for you but they have surprised me several times unexpectedly but greatly appreciated. Many of the gel issues that malibu had stemmed from the Illusion tower (sorry Illusion guys), I have not heard any G3 issues with spider cracking. Go get yuh a 2011 bu' and welcome to the crew :werule:

Since it's a dealership telling you it's 3 years have him give it to you in writing as part of the sales contract. If he won't do that then you know up front he's trying to pull a fast one. Remember, no matter what is said, if it ain't in writing, it never happened.
