Installing battery isolator

Recommended Posts

How difficult is it to install a battery issolator running two batteries? I get a real nervous about doing this myself. IS it worth paying someone 200 bucks to install it for me? Am I wrong by saying the isolator needs to be located near the alternator. In my case under my motor box in my sportster?

The isolator switch needs to be located next to the battery, you use the main leads into the switch and then you make new cables to the battery. You dont want the extended cables as short as possible, the longer you get the more juice you loose and exspensive it gets (2ga cable is exspensive!)

Its not that hard if you have some DIYS skills. The link wakegirl hooked you up with will help you with just about any thing you need to know. isolator needs to be by the battery, but in a place you can get at.

If you could get that done for $200 the including extra battery, I would definitely go that route. After you buy all the parts and that 2 ga. wire you just won't be saving that much money. Nothing is more valuable than time.
