Can someone tell me why malibu cheaped out and didnt put a factory depth gauge in a 70k boat? Any way to add one into factory gauges? Any add on module for it?

Thanks

The guy you bought the boat from cheaped out :Tease3: It was an option in 06. An option I would not go without.

On another note, if you don't have a depth gauge and you hit ground the insurance company will pay vs. if you have a depth gauge you will likely be responsible.

We just bought an 07 LSV from a private seller without a depth transducer and where thinking the same thing. How could Malibu make and sell such a high end boat without a depth?

We asked our local dealership, not the dealership the boat was originally purchased from, they said some dealerships purchase the boats in lots and may skimp on some options. Of course they can add the package afterward, but its pricey.

Our old wakesetters depth guage wasnt very accurate and the readings were intermettent the alarm didnt work right, so we ended up installing a fish finder for about $150. Its more accurate still had a depth alarm and it was alot cheaper. Only downside was not having depth on gague cluster. We put the fish finder down by the cup holder by the right foot of the driver.

The factory kit displays on the screen with everything else. Also in the dash gauges next to air temp etc.

I LOL at Stewart's point about running aground. The depth gauge is at the back of the boat and tells you how deep it is underneath you. It can't read ahead. So if you are going across the lake at 30mph, a depth gauge isn't going to do anything if there's an abrupt change to shallow water.

I have an 06' Wakesetter VLX, it has been reading 0.6, then it will go to 400ft. I called Malibu to troubleshoot. The response I got was that I needed a new Module, which plugs In under the dash and not to mention cost $396 + shipping. Well, I took the boat out yesterday and I'm still getting the same depth readings, is their something else I'm suppose to do or did I just waste $400? This is a new boat to me, help me please....... heading next weekend to Norris TN, would love to get this resolved
