Canvas Snap Fasteners

Need some advice. I have another boat that has a canvas cover that is secured by the button type canvas fasteners. I have lost several of the buttons in the cover, and think I can handle the repair of those. There are a couple of the studs that have come out of the boat, leaving a hole in the fiberglass. I need to replace the stud, but the hole is stripped out. What would you use to secure the stud into the fiberglass?

If it was wood, I would use the wood glue and wooden match stick trick, but I am clueless on how to do the same type of repair in the fiberglass. The studs are a #8 screw with the button head on top. Epoxy? Gorilla Glue? Any ideas?

Why not use a #8 screw with a nut/washer/backing plate on the back side of the fiberglass?

Use a rivet, that way no stress cracks.

That is the way Cobalt does it, and they build really nice boats.

I would fill the hole with Epoxy then pre drill and put the stock size screw back in. Post up a pic of the hole and people might be able to come up with a better idea.
