Fuel Injector cleaner

Recommended Posts

I regularly clean the fuel injectors in my vehicles about once a year. However, I have searched this forum and could not find a link to any discussion on how often one cleans the injectors on a Malibu. Mine gets about 70 hours of use a year so I figure it is due. I have the service manual that covers removing and cleaning the injector screens but I would like to try using an STP injector cleaner and fuel system additive first. A lot less work. Does anyone use this on a yearly basis?

I use techron in my boat and pick up truck. The boat has a carb and I run a bottle three times a season. My f250 is efi I run a bottle a few times a year,I don't drive it much. Techron is safe for either, I am a mechanic and tend to shy away for "mechanic in a bottle" but its a great product.Walmart autozone ect have it, less than 10 bucks a bottle

What about Sea Foam? I ran three bottles over the last three tanks in the boat and my rough running troubles have ended (until I can rebuild it this winter), but believe me I would have never believed it unless I saw it with my own eyes! Is techron better than Sea foam?

This year I started using the new Marine Stabil which is specified for fuel containing ethanol and listed as being an injector cleaner. ½ oz in each 5 gl can is all it takes. I haven't used the Techron since I started with the Stabil (the marine Stabil is blue vs the red automotive version).
