gas tank question?

Recommended Posts

I have been smelling gas in the ski locker.

has anyone ever had this happen?

I did, took it to my dealer and they pressurized the whole system and apparently it was just my imagination. Haven't blown up yet.... but it freaked me out especially since my young kids are usually on the boat.

If your engine is fuel injected, then you will need to identify and correct the source of the fuel smell before you even think about starting the boat.

In the 'old days' of carb'd boats, it was normal to smell fuel (from the float bowl) in your bilge until you ran the blower long enough to vacate the fumes.

With modern fuel injection, you should never smell any gasoline fumes, ever, and if you do you are risking a heck of a lot by not geting the fuel system fixed prior to the next engine start.
