Thermostat Changeout - Monsoon 340

Recommended Posts

Hey I was just wondering if it's an easy or tough job changing out the Thermostat on my 2008 Monsoon? The reason I'm considering this: The boat sat in SUPER hard water for a goood portion of its 60 hour life. I've noticed hard water deposits on some of the fittings and when I remove the hose leading to the Thermostat housing, there appears to be some gunk coating the insides of it.

The temperature of the boat when warming up will climb up to 170-175 then its evident the thermostat opens because the temp snaps back to 160 and is fairly staible...I say fairly, but it just appears to me judging by the way the gauge is acting, that the thermostat is sticking...I might be wrong, but if its not a big deal, I thought I'd just replace the stupid thing and be done with it?

Any and all help appriciated!

Thanks

Paul

Sounds like it might be sticking a little. For the price of one I'd just change it for peace of mind.

It is that straight forward. Make sure to order the gasket(s) too.

Not sure of the year of your boat (edit - missed the year in the text), but there should be 2 gaskets. The hardest part when replacing mine was scraping all of the old gasket material off the surfaces.
