saltwater use help

A mate is planing on purchasing a used malibu ,however its hard to find them with salt water kits,

if the boat is flushed after every use with this help or will he have problems eventualy if its only used in

salt water and has no salt water kit??

Personally, I'd recommend looking for a boat that has a closed cooling system if you are planning on running in salt all the time. This is also coming from a guy who won't let his boat touch salt water though. Realisticly if you flush religously after each use, you should be fine for a long time. But a closed cooling system is pretty much designed for the salt water enviornments. If it were me, I'd much rather have that not only from the maintenance standpoint, but from the piece of mind standpoint. If you have no other options though, do what you gotta do...

When looking at used boats just figure in the cost of adding a closed cooling system along with some anodes to the hull.

There are plenty of boats out there running raw salt water for cooling, you'll have to keep up with flushing and replacing your manifolds as needed.

The other problems are going to be corrosion on metal interior fittings, electrical etc, but it will be the same for any boat.
