Slow Idle

Hey guys and gals,

We just got our boat back about 3 weeks ago from having our engine rebuilt, and for the most part it is running alright. The only problem we are having right now is that it is idling a little to slow, and occasionally the engine will die when we’re just sitting there.

I’ve messed with the idle switch and turned it all the way in so that it would idle at a much faster speed, however this only raised the idle rpms up slightly and has not fixed the problem. Any suggestions for other things to try? Thanks.

Take it back to whoever did the rebuild and have him do a tune up.

The only problem with this is that it took them 6 weeks to get me the boat back, so I'm wanting to try a few things on my own before I take it back in.

Was the carb rebuilt and adjusted properly?

I'd also check the engine timing considering it was just rebuilt.

The carburator was not rebuilt, although I think I might do that myself. I've never messed with the engine timing before. Any suggestions on what to look for?
