Calling on all LS1 owners (especially '04s)

Recommended Posts

I can't be the only one out ther with this problem!

The steel bands that wrap around my heat exchanger holding it to the enging bracket are almost completely rusted away on my '04 RLXi

The boat only has only 60 hours on it and has never been in a salt water environment. Nothing else has even the slightest bit of rust on it in the engine compartment.

I spoke to Indmar customer service and the referred me to R&D Enterprises who manufactured it. I sent them pictures and they said that they have never seen this problem before. Unfortunately the bands are somehow fused around the heat exchanger and can not be replaced. They did say thay they could sell me an entire heat exchanger for $1,200!

I'm wondeering if this is a problem with just ones made for 2004 models (bad batch of steel).

All input from BuCrew members would be greatly appreciated.

John

I have an 03 and mine are fine.

I'm beginning to think it was just a bad batch of steel in the '04's, or just on mine in particular.
