bilge pump wiring

Recommended Posts

I got a new Sahara 750 to replace mine whose float switch has stopped working. I am looking at the wiring. The factory used butt connectors with built in heat shrink. I would not have recognized what those were, except I happened to be walking through fastenall a few months ago and wondered how on earth a box of butt connectors cost 125 bucks. Anyway, my original plan was to simply cut, use butt splice connectors and heat shrink. But it occurs to me regular old Radio Shack heat shrink is not exactly water tight, especially around a butt connector.

Suggestions??

I would solder it and then heat shrink, then wrap with electrical tape...

I will keep this in mind. I was rumaging through the toolbox and found some waterproof heat shrink the Dodge dealer gave me when they were fixing a wiring issue the other Dodge dealer caused on my wife's Durango. I used that stuff. It is pretty cool, a gel seaps out and hardens when you heat it.

Yup that's the stuff you want.
