Steering...help me troubleshoot

Recommended Posts

I took my '03 Response LXI out this past weekend and it was very difficult to turn the steering wheel. Is there a maintenance item I might be missing?

Also, I did my own maintenance this summer but did not change the transmission fluid... couldn't find a drain. What is my best resource for instructions?

For the transmission I use a cheep kerosine pump avaliable at Wally World for around 3 bucks, pump out the old (measure) and add new in the amount you pumped out. real simple. Just be carefull and dont spill.

typically the steering cable will need to be replaced.

i would suggest breaking the cable loose from the rudder and exercise each, to be sure, before purchasing anything.

Also, the OP is looking for the drain. Actually you just suck it out of the fill.
