Vapor Lock - A Solution Identified?

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine has a 2008 Moomba with an Indmar Engine.

He had problems with it (vapor lock type symptoms) so he took it in, thinking his fuel pump was bad.

What he found was that there is a modification for the Indmar engines in Moombas to add a low pressure fuel pump in addition to the engine mounted high pressure fuel pump. This is being done under Indmar warranty.

He was supposed to get the boat back Friday.

Back before most of you guys were even born....we used to solve vaporlock problems with vice-grips and clothes pins. They added just a little more surface area to dissapate the heat. Many times you would open the hood of a car to see a pair of vice-grips and/or a few clothes pins attached to the steel fuel lines. Of course that was before the days of high pressure fuel systems and EFI.

Wish they would fix my 2003 LS/1.

you can buy the kit. I did. $275 for a carter low pressure fuel pump and plug and play harness that goes inline with the regular fuel pump. Could probably make your own version of the kit by buying a fuel pump at NAPA and hardwiring it for half the price or less.

Beau, born in 56 got a few months on you.

I wish Indmar would fix it for free.

Bill, that's the route I think I'll go.
