Trailer Bunks & Carpet

I'm reaching out to you experts on trailer bunk boards and carpet. I seem to have an ongoing problem with my boat alignment on my trailer (Extreme Brand). If I align and center the boat correctly (has to be perfect) no problem. However, if my boat is loaded at just a slight angle or the trailer is just not at the perfect depth I will rip my trailer bunk carpet and/or damage the boards. What type of boards do you use when replacing them? (redwood, pressure treated?) Has anyone made a purchase of some good bunk carpet. I've been using Overton's 16 oz carpet but it seems after a couple times in and out of the water the carpet dries out and I end up ripping them.

Go to Lowes or Home Depot, they have a real thick black carpet that works great. Had it on 3 years and no tears.

SOunds like a moment or 3 to balance the boat prior to driving it up onto the bunks is easier than replacing the carpeting.

And maybe put the trailer a tad deeper in the water??

:plus1: Lowes had everything I needed. PT 2x6's, black marine carpet, staples, all for around $75.

My bunks are all the way in usually.

I tried getting some at lowes and home depot and neither had black outdoor or marine carpet.

Found a local boat place that had the carpet already cut into 1' wide pieces. But I saw how it was thin like the old stuff so I double wrapped the carpet. I'll see how long this lasts.
