wake enhancing

I have an 88 sunsetter. Was told the wedge will not work on the 88. available for 89 and up I guess. Is there another product available like the wedge. If so where do I find. I have used fat sacks but seem to still need a bigger wake for surfing and big air on wakeboard. Any ideas thanks.

How much weight are you running? We have an 88' Skier with 1000lbs and it's plenty of weight with 5 people top throw inverts while boarding. When re-configured for surfing the wave is plenty big for a guy my size (180) to have a lot of fun on ropeless.

There is one guy on the board that has built a custom wedge for his boat. That's the only way to add a wedge to our boats. He also has rebuilt the entire transom to 2 1/4" thick to re-enforce it for the stresses caused by the wedge.

You could certainly go that route, but it certainly isn't going to be a bolt on device.

Here's a few ballast threads that might help you out....

Thanks for the reply. I probably have 900lbs in the boat. I have a 600lbs by the back bench and 200 on the side plus 200 in the center ski locker. If I have a passenger they are in the back and on the driver side to get more wgt. on that side. How should I have the wgt and what speed. I get a curl of the wake at 9mph according to my speedometer but doesn't seem to be enough. If I go slower the wake is a boil and faster seems to flatten out. perhaps I need more wgt. forward and not so much near the bench.

I can certainly tell you you need more weight on the side. Surfing is all about listing the boat to the surf side. The 600lbs in the back should be a good start. Try adding 400-500 lbs to the surf side of the boat. I would pull the 200 lbs out of the locker and put it on the surf side of the boat and go form there. Any passengers should be sitting on the surf rear corner or the observers area (assuming you are surfing on the port side).

Speed should be right around 10 to start. You'll probably have to get up to 10-11 to clean up the wave and then back it down to 10-10.5.

Good luck. Have fun! Surfing.gif
