HELP! Water is coming in the boat from under the dash of 99 VLX

I just got a 99 sunsetter VLX and whenever I go over like 15 miles an hour water starts pouring onto my feet from under the dash. I looked under there and there are two little tubes the water is coming from and I have no idea what they are for or where they are supposed to be hooked up. They are labeled PRIMARY and SECONDARY if that helps identify anything. I was gonna just plug them up with something, but I don't want to mess something up. The boat ran fine all day, just had water running onto my feet every time we pulled a boarder. Anyone know what I should do with those little tubes so they don't leak water everywhere? Thanks

Those are the rubber tubes that go from your pitos to the MDC control unit to give the speed reading. Most likely, your MDC control unit (unit that drives the gauges) is toast now.

Do your speedos work?

Or were they replaced with GPS units? Or Perfect Pass? That was my first thought, also. Speedometer tubes will not normally have water in them, but if they are disconnected at the back of the dash, water will come through the old style pitots.

Otherwise, do you have heater vents that don't work? Is the water hot after the boat warms up?

If the tubes are small diameter, like 1/4" then it should be speedometer tubes. If they are 1" or bigger, it may be heater related.

I'm sure someone will chime in with a definitive answer, the primary and secondary labels will be a dead give away to those in the know.

If this is the first time you've had the boat out since you bought it, I'm betting someone un-plugged them during winterization. That would be a good thing.

Thanks for the replies... Sounds like its definitely for the speedos. I currently have perfect pass which works great in RPM mode. My RPM gauge (connected to perfect pass gauge) also works fine. Here's my problem, None of my other dash gauges are working. No MPH gauge, No engine temp gauge, No fuel gauge, etc. How do I fix this?

First of all connect the pitot tubes after blowing them out with air. (use your mouth or a computer keyboard duster-can.)

Then look for popped circuit breakers at the panel which is below the throttle.

If that does not work look for loose grounds. There is a ground bar under the dash...

Then pull the cluster out of the dash and look for loose wires...

Good luck!
