Not a good week for my neighbor

Monday I get a phone call, Ha i am at the other end of the lake and my impeller is shot. I put some tools and an impeller on the pontoon and go get him fixed up.

Today we skied in the morning and later I am sitting on the porch and I hear him going out. He is going to take company for a ride. As soon as he put the throttle down I am thinking something sounds odd to me. A minute or two goes by and I hear him returning. Still sounds very odd to me. Now I get I think my prop is trash. His young son 12 years old pulled the boat up on the lift to far and nailed the prop. Get a new prop ordered next day UPS. I told him pull the boat tonight or tomorrow as I am heading north on Thursday and if he wants me to get him ready I need to pull the prop before I leave.

His older son says its OK we can just use Ricks or my boat. Let me think.................. NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:no::no:

Wow. When I was a kid I wouldn't have even been tempted to ask that question! Unsure.gif

i wouldn't dare ask to borrow a friends boat now!

these money pits are just too 'personal'.

i'd sooner borrow their kids than ask to borrow the boatYahoo.gif

Well, not to one-up you or anything, but my week started with discovering a bent prop and having to get one shipped overnight (for Saturday delivery) from Acme in order to leave for vacation, and ended with dropping a valve in my engine. Maybe this will cheer your neighbor up!

It's the age old antic: Break Out Another Thousand.

Last Wednesday I took a morning slalom set and skied the best I have skied in 2 years. I was on cloud 9. Returned home, got the boat on the lift and cranked her up. Just as I was walking off the dock I hear a creaking noise, then a little pop. I turned around in time to see the cable on my lift snap and my boat plummet into the water. Of course I was to be leaving for vacation the next day, so I had to take an extra vacation day off from work to get the boat situated and arange to have the lift fixed while I was gone.

C'mon guys, what would you do if you were 12 and grew up on the lake? He's rolling just like dad does, a bad prop can't stop the party, there are too many boats and friends out there. He probably offered up your boat because he's grown up knowing you, and you've been a good dude to him. HOWEVER, as his dad, I would have said "Hold on a second son, here's the deal..." and explained the rest of the dynamics that go unseen by a kid.

And ditto the borrowing. I've got no problem asking a friend for a pull, but I'm very nervous when I'm behind their helm pulling them. Let alone just borrowing the boat without them, I wouldn't relax enough to enjoy any of it.

Yeah she is fine. It was probably on 2 feet off the water, but enought to make a he// of a splash. I took her out for a spin to test for vibrations and all is well. Talk about your heart sinking though!
