Boat wont start after it warms up

Recommended Posts

I just bought my first boat a week ago and took it out this past weekend. It is an 86 skier, it runs great except for once it warms if i kill the engine it doesnt want to start back up if i sit and float for a half hour or so it will. I can jump it across the cylinoid and it will fire right back up, i also put a new cylinoid on it. Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?

Thanks

search forum for "vapor lock".

sounds like an auxiliary fuel pump may be the answer.

im pretty sure i have mechanical fuel pump. the boat wont even turn over if i try to use the key.

My friend had an 86' ski nautique with the same problem. We never did figure it out, good luck. It could actually be a relay but you'll have to trace all the wires for the ignition, lot's of work but it can be done..
