Difficulty starting cold engine

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I have a 2007 Response LXI. It has always started right up with just a rev or two, even when cold. The first time out this season was fine also. But then it has started taking up to 5 seconds of cranking to get it going. The battery and starter seem very strong, it just takes a while to actually start. Then when it is warm, it will restart with just a few revs like always. Otherwise it seems to run normally. Seems like a fuel problem, maybe filter, pump or pressure regulator? Any suggestions to troubleshoot, similar problems? Thanks

Check your fuel pressure. I think it should be around 60 psi. A friend of mine has an '07 and his fuel pump just went out with similar symptoms to yours. My friend put in a new Generation 3 fuel pump. It's supposed to be better.
