Moomba gets the illusion tower,BOOO!

I dont have any issues with my illusion. That is the only positive if/when i do have a problem at least there will be somewhere to go.

Really gay on Moomba's part if you ask me. Way to be a follower! you know how many times the owners are gonna get asked ,"what year is your Malibu ?". Only to have to say, "it's not a Malibu".

That's lame... I must say that Malibu is definitely a trend setter.

They are smart though, Malibu looks at Moomba prices... there is a big market for a price point boat and the Axis/Ride boats are still way too expensive to compete with Moomba IMOP.

How much are Moombas now? the craigslist ad says under 50.If its anywhere near 50 its to much imo.

As I said over in the ww thread, it's kinda weak, but I'd rather have replacement parts out there than a unique and unsupported (fragile?) tower. The moomba version looks a lot more robust too:

Well other than the fact I wouldn't buy a hamburger from those guys, the owner threatened to shoot a friend of mine over a snowmobile he bought from the owner over there. They used to sell snomobiles, they don't anymore.

Anyways I guess in this industry you can lead, follow, or get out of the way. Skiers choice consistantly chooses to follow. They haven't changed their hulls in how long? They must be making a killing on these boats they're building, I don't see the build quality or innovation there to keep up with the price increases.

Metcraft went out of business last year and XTP who makes the towers for Skiers Choice picked up the mold etc. If you take a look at this link and go towards the bottom you will see some refinements on the old Illusion.

Not saying I agree with putting the same tower on a different boat manufacturer, but Malibu could have bought Metcraft instead of Titan.....

Thankfully they didn't. Instead they got to keep their "look" and get some fresh eyes on the design & hopefully make it better.

I certainly don't know this, but it wouldn't even surprise me to hear about lawsuits or liabilities against Metcraft for their tower failures (Tige, Calabria, Centurion, etc.). That might make them not very appealing to buy out.

I was driving down the road the other day and saw a boat go by with what looked like an Illusion tower. I rubber necked and tried to see what boat it was, but couldn't. It was definitely and I/O, though. Looked pretty good. It's gonna get copied, that's just the way it is.
