Sparkles FLO CAM IN ACTION

you asked for it here it is.... some video from the flo cam

the quality of the video is way way better than what you will see on you tube. the video quality was lost in the upload translation i guess. watch it in 480p. still not as good as on my mac playback.

a couple of things;

the camera attaches to the top of the pylon on the tower

you have to remove the camera each time you attach and detach the rope

the camera follows the rope

for rope throwers who throw in gently the camera will stay in place

you can adjust the camera angle up or down

you can use the cruise control and watch the camera at the same time

you must set your cruise speed first then switch to camera on the maliview

below is the link for the maker of the camera system

http://www.vio-pov.c...ucts/pov_15.php

the grey control unit is in the glove box

you must start and stop the camera with the remote control

i have not been able to start or stop recording with maliview

Thanks for the vid and the opinions. Can't wait to get mine in. Hopefully it will be here in a week or two.

I can't believe they route the wire up the side of the tower. Kind of looks aftermarket.

Hopefully one of us can figure out how to start/stop with the maliview. Overall kind of disappointed with the maliview. A lot of things seem hard to figure out and you don't want complicated while your driving a boat.

Thanks for posting those Rhino. My bad, but I'm not sure I see the value....

This is a canon SD1400 point and shoot ($249):

And this is a GoPro Hero HD with a the motorsports suction cup (approx $275):

I don't have maliview, but for $500, you could get one of these:

GetAttachment-5.jpg

AND a cheap cam from craigslist AND a 20' cable and call it good. Would prolly produce better vid than the vio too. Shoot for $1K I could have all three cams.

For the record I'm a big fan of the vio product. For alpine skiing, for instance, there probably isn't a better product on the market. But it's just not a good fit for a wakeboat tower, imho and all that. I'm really glad you've shared though and I look forward to seeing more.

(HINT: are you using the "share" menu in Quicktime to post to youtube? That's what I did for the two vids posted above)

YESSIREE! however, i have personally over the last years helped procure the sale of many Malibu boats for my local dealer whom I love and support. therefore, we have negotiated a great DEAL on my new boat or my boss would not have allowed me to buy her. enough said.

further more, none of those devices allow you to see a rider through maliview. cheers

The malivue video input is just a yellow RCA, no? Any $80 cheapie craigslist video cam on a tower mount would have that. Plus the ability to zoom.

Shawndoggy woudl you mind trying the go-pro suctioned off the tower? I was wondering if that would work for surfing or if the fish-eye lense would make you disappear. Any thoughts, I'd love to see, of course like you by the time I get out there I could care less about filming.

Quick sample of tower mount with suction cup. We were running the bimini, which means I had to mount it to the bottom of the tower (upside down). Bimini definitely interferes with the view at long-line lengths. Didn't read till this morning that you wanted a surf video... that actually might look cool suctioned to the side of the tower looking down the boat. Will have to try that if I get around to it.

That is the nice thing about the flo cam. Mounts right on top of your tower pylon.

Depends on the deal you negotiate with your local dealer.

The tower pylon is an add as well.

Then you need to install it
