Where to mount in-hull transducer/depth gauge on 91' Sunsetter?

Recommended Posts

Bought a HawkEye D10D and was wondering where the best in-hull location would be on my 1991 Sunsetter.

Help?

I HAD A '99 SLXI and I put it behind the motor under an access panel in front of the rear seat. It was much flatter there than in front of the motor. (less Vee) Make sure you pick a spot that does not have turbulent water like behind the fins or a paddlewheel..

**TIP** Don't use the epoxy that they give you. (too permanent..) Use 100% silicone to mount it. just make sure you get about 1/8" of solid silicone under it and NO air bubbles. You will be able to remove it later if need be. Not so much with the epoxy...

Also.. If you want to try the spot first, use Vaseline to simulate silicone. Make sure you bring rubbing alcohol and paper towels to clean up the vaseline. Alcohol will also take silicone off your hands as well.

Good luck!

The instructions say nowhere near the running gear. So I was guessing to the left or right of the drain plug in front of the motor, I guess.

Figured in the dash.

Like in place of another gauge? Or do you have room in yours to add another? I have been debating on adding a depth finder to my boat but I don't want it to look like I added it...

I was gonna just add it, cause I am also going to add a wired remote for the stereo and possibly a perfect pass as well. I don't really like the look of my dash too much anyway. When the time comes(like this winter), I am going to do a fiberglass or possibly a carbon overlay to create a new dash layout with newer gauges and the ones I needed to add as well.
