Wake Surfboard ?'s

Curious question: Has anyone tried a 'real' surfboard for wake surfing? I have a 6'0" surfboard -triple skeg - for ocean surfing. My kids have just started to wakeboard this year and wakesurf is next on the purchase list. I realize my surfboard is too big for them but is it at least 'doable' for an adult to try?

Also - any suggestions for kids sized boards - 2 boys (13, and 10) and an 8 yr old girl --all on the 'lean' side of weight.

Thanks!

Generally speaking, this board is too big for him. It has been very good for him to learn on though because it has lots of flotation and has a nose that's really hard to pearl. Now that he's getting some skilz, a kid-sized smaller board would probably do him well.

I'd think your 6'0" would be kinda slow and boring. Probably fun for just sitting in the pocket but that gets boring quick.

For a semi-affordable "boat board" I'd suggest a 5' liquid force venture. very stable, not too fast, difficult to pearl.

Mid tank and rear surf side tank full, plus a 750 sack in the rear surf side locker.

If you get the lf board scan craigslist. You should be able to score one for $150 or less used.

Shawndoggy -

Since you have a kid in the same range, and because you seem to know a ton, what set up would you run for very beginner wakeboarders?

13 just started and can get up and jump about half the wake.

10 yr old just getting up

8 yr old can ride wake skate and gets up for 5 seconds on wakeboard.

Thanks!!

LOL, I don't know much at all. Are you asking about ballast and speed for wakeboarding? Small kids will pop up going really slow. I towed a 60 pound kid at 12mph no problem, and 14mph for anybody under 110 lbs. The kid who is jumping may want more speed or at least all of the weight on his/her "good" side so that the wake is clean on that side. On my boat the wake tends to be really washed out and foamy under 17 or so.

All of that would be with tanks empty.

My son (6' 142#'s)rode a Broadcast 4'9" ropeless @ 10.3mph with just the center/side filled and the wedge down this past week. It is more fun with the 750# sac filled too but the board size he rode will treat you well.

The thing I really didn't like about the broadcast is that it pearls super easy. That's pretty discouraging for beginners in my experience.
