03 LSV vs 04 LSV

Thanks so much for the info -- we are still boat shopping but trying to narrow it down. We have pretty much r/o the xti (for the same reasons most everyone gave). Right now we are looking at an 03LSV vs 04LSV --- all things being equal...do you think there is much difference in the 03 with the diamond hull? We really want to be able to ski some and will choose the 03 if the wake at 30 is noticably better unfortunately we can't find an 04 LSV that we can try (other than the xti) but my husband skiied behind an 02 LSV (diamond hull) and thought it was pretty good.

Guess it boils down to whether or not we want the diamod hull...is it going REALLY make a better ski wake? Any words of advice on this?

The diamond hull is going to give a MUCH better ski wake at speeds over 30 as long as you don't get too much weight in the boat.

It is harder to get a big surf wake from the diamond hull though. It will make a huge wake but you do need a lot of ballast an a wedge to get it.

There is a significant size difference between the '03 and '04 23LSV's. The '02/03 are very similar, but in '04 the 23LSV was redesigned. You need to take a look and determine which you prefer.

In '04 the Wakesetter LSV went from the diamond hull to the wake hull.. don't remember if you're looking at wakesetters or sunscape (that is what the non wakesetter is right?)

I had both a 03 Wakesetter LSV and a 04 Wakesetter LSV.

There is a huge difference between these boats.

The 03 Wakesetter LSV is shorter (hull around 21-1/2 feet) and narrower.

The 04 Wakesetter LSV is actually 23' long and is wider. The biggest difference is handling. The 04's got the gorilla fins, which make these boats turn on a dime Yahoo.gif The added length also gives the 04 a better ride in choppey water. Another added benefit is less bow rise, which I think is a very important factor. The 04 also got some nice updates in the interior.

IIRC, the wake on both at about 32mph seemed to be the same. Neither is ideal for slalom, but both can do it.

If you are choosing between the 2, and can afford the 04, you would be crazy not to get it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The diamond hull will also give a much better ski wake between 25-30 mph. Which is an important speed range for young skiers.

The hull length on the 04 is only 6 inches longer. The 03 LSV is 22'6" long versus a full 23' on the 04. The interior is significantly different as they shortened the engine box and pushed the driver/observer forward. The main seating area on the 04 is easily over a foot longer. But the overall length is only a 6" difference. The width increased as well - giving the 04 a much larger feel. Yes, there are big differences between them.

If you're more into skiing, I would think you're crazy to get the wake specific 04 version. The 03 is a much better hybrid boat (unless you're assuming that they'll come to the dark side, which they will! Yahoo.gif Once they give in to the dark side, they'd be crazy not to want the 04! )

2004 LSV overall lenght is 6" longer than the 2003 model. (23'0" compared to 22'6")

2004 LSV is 3" wider than the 2003 model. (100" compared to 97")

2004 has 1250 lbs ballast in all hard tanks. (2003 Had 900lbs with the midship being a bladder bag)

2004 LSV was all redesigned for model year ( New hull design)

Running surface on 2004 is a true 23' compared to about to 22' on the 2003 with the step hull design. This is one of the reasons that the 04 LSV planes so much quicker, has less bow rise, and rides better in the chop.

The interior seems like it grew more than 1 foot, it is just plain huge.
