Just sold my 1992 Ski Nautique last night. A friend bought a 2007 VTX with a friend and the friend wants out. I am going to buy the boat outright. Can't wait....going boarding on Saturday!

Sounds pretty sweet, I think it's fair to say you'll like the wakeboarding wake for sure! Thumbup.gif

What hull, major options?

Lets see some pics.

Small Hiccup...the bank that has it financed for the current owner says they can only loan 90% of used trade in value. They say that used trade in is just under 26K!!! going to look at Boat US finanacing....they know boats.

I know financing through the major banks is getting tough. JPM Chase had stopped loans on watercrafts (so they say) for a while. Not sure if they are back in the game. Good luck

Try number 4 coming up today. A major bank, loan officer is a skier. Seller spoke to her and it sounds like she is open to the financing based on a more real world value...considering power wedge, tower, upgraded stereo, tandem trailer. Only downside was an interest rate 2 points higher! However the seller is willing to perhaps kick down a couple K to make up for that. We'll see...it's not over till its over.

Once you have the loan you might be able to get another w/ a lower rate. Home equity is what I'd recommend if that works for ya.

Keep trying. I went to a credit union first for a used boat I was going to buy. They had an OK rate, but the retail value they were showing for a 2009 was ridiculous. I also checked with my main bank B of A on a lark since they never have even OK rates, and they surprised me with a great rate and a good value. However, in the end I bought new (and used BofA).

Check around several places, or use a *reputable* place that will shop around your loan request to a few places.

We're getting closer. My bank, is able to loan on the high end of trade in value...plus include the tandem Boat Mate trailer in that value. They also are going to do an unsecured line of credit for the gap.

I can almost taste it!!!

I'm sure you will, but there's no cheese left after buying, paying taxes, and insurance!

It really doesn't need much. This was the dealers show boat for 2007, so coming from a 1992 Ski Nautique, this has more bells and whistles than I'll know what to do with. Owner was a good friend, and he's added a bigger sub, bow speakers, on top of coming with: 4 tower speakers, spinner racks, bimini, power wedge, front ballast, leds and more. I think I'm pretty set for a length restricted lake that doesn't allow the use of ballast.

You'll be amazed! It's a never ending list of possibilities. The slope is far to slippery for most men to keep their balance (chequebook balance?)

Boat goes to the dealer Monday for a mechanical check, full deatail, and 2 new batteries (current owners expense). He's a friend and a heck of a nice guy, but realistically those things should be done by anyone wanting to sell a boat I think. Hoping to hear today on the loan. The bummer is I leave for Philly on Monday the 2nd, and I will probably just have taken possesion of the boat that weekend if I am lucky!
