No more tower folding for me!!!

I got tired of folding down my tower every time I put my boat away. So I got out the power tools and here's what I came up with...

Not the prettiest, but it gets the job done!

Whatever works...works.

Yes it does. :)

You must be a wicked good trailer backer-upper.

It's a little tricky, but I'm getting the hang of it!

There goes the structural integrity of that beam...

I hope you own and don't rent!

We do own and it's a non-load bearing beam.

 Nice, what kind of exterior finish is that? Are you going to finish it out?

It's stucco. Not sure what I'm gonna do to finish it yet...

Removeable piece that you put back in there when your done?

Reminds me of my gate to my RV parking space. My first boat didn't have a foldable tongue. So I cut a hole in the gate. Now we have the Extreme trailer with the foldable tongue & call that hole a "dog window".

Not a load bearing beam? Is that just a 2X4 trim board you cut out? If so, just remove the rest of it and finish off the edge with metal flashing and paint to match.

 That's great! Whatever works right?

It's not a trim board. It's just a couple 2x12's and some plywood for lateral support on the columns. The outside is coated with stucco. It wasn't necessary and probably overkill, but we did it anyways because we live in the Hurricane State.

It's rare that I get to use this term so perfectly. And Matt, this is not meant as an insult, so please don't take it that way, but that is absolutely Ghetto-Fabulous.

 Thanks WakeGirl!

Looks great, now get a flap and a 2 way hinge and no one will be able to tell. The flap can just swing back and forth like a dog door. Done.

That's a good call. Thumbup.gif I'm with Wakegirl - that is Ghetto Fabulous! Rockon.gif I'm jealous and wish I didn't have to fold mine!

 Having to get it through the "uprights" there would drive me nuts before folding the tower everytime.
