water coming in tru wedge

Recommended Posts

couple of days ago notice the carpet was between the ice chest and driver seat(04 Vlx) so i thought the ice chest was leaking but it wasnt. opened the rear hatch to check the ballast and saw the carpet was very wet.(driver side) seems like it was leaking in from where the swim platform was bolted on. took platform off and re-sealed. took it out after 7 days for the seal to cure. when the boat is parked on the water there wasn't any water on the carpet. but we started to board then i check the rear hatch again there was water again. thinking it might be from the wedge, but the carpet was only wet from the driver side..the other side is complete dry..anyone was any ideas of where the water could be coming from????

ya lucky it wast from there. found that there was a screw missing on the rub rail behind the chrome strip. sealed it and hope that will be it..

i noticed that under the rub rail where it curbs on the corner, that there is a gap from the rubber to the body. put the water house on it and water was coming in from the missing screw and another screw. so used some marine sealant, so hopefully it drys and will be all good.

Do you surf a lot? If so which side?

Do you use the cooler at all?

After you sealed the swim platform mount how long was the boat in the water before you got water?

Is just the carpet wet or is it in the bilge?

I'd bet it's a cracked fitting or something to do with the ballast tank or pump on that side... The drain pump is right near where you are getting water...

dont do alot of surfing, the cooler has no leaks(have a plug for the drain hole) when the boat if parked on the water no leak, but when we get going the water comes in and carpet is wet. replaced the hard tanks with 750 and all new fitting, that was the first thing i checked but the ballast system is not leaking.
