Rough running/vibration

Recommended Posts

Recently bought 2003 Response LXI with the 335 Monsoon. The boat seems to have a lot of vibration while accelerating to speed. Inspected the prop and shaft. All seems fine, the there is no run out and the prop has no dents for dings. There is no vibration once at speed.

The boat is low hours for age, about 150. Has not run much in the last year. Should I change the spark plugs, even so the hours are low?

Are Platinum plugs worth the cost?

My last Malibu had a 4 blade prop. Could the 3 blade have more vibration?

Great boat, but sure think it should be smoother.

Thanks for any advise.

Prior to me hitting a log in the river, I had a little work done to the prop. My wakesetter gets pretty banged up out there, but holds up well. I still had a little vibration and it did not run exactly smooth.

After hitting the log (more like a tree), I filed an insurance claim because I thought I may have damaged the shaft. Shaft was good, prop got refinished, engine aligned, stabelizer fins replaced, and finally gel coat repair.

Boat is running like it just came off the show room. Def take a professional look at that prop. Go to someone reputable or through the actual prop company. You may also want to think about getting the engine alignment.

Hope this helps

Thank you for the reply. The prop look new, but rotating the prop and comparing to a stationary object, One blade is off by about 3/8"

I guess the previous owner may have hit the cross brace on their lift. Getting a new prop. Hope this fixes the issue.

Thanks
