Weekend trouble

Recommended Posts

We were on our way in friday evening when we hit something. Thank goodness the boat ramp wasn't far off and we limped the boat in. When I pull it out the prop is trash and the rudder is bent back toward the transom. Does anyone know where I may find a rudder and mounting kit for a reasonable price. We have a 06 vlx.

Thanks,

John

I did the same thing at the beginning of the summer, I found that you cant just buy a rudder by itself....you have to buy the whole rudder assembly.

I had my prop repair place bent my rudder shaft back straight as they could, you should also make sure your prop didnt hit the bottom of your boat, if so your prop shaft is most likely

bent; I had a machine shop straighten mine from .003" to .0015". Good Luck

I contacted my dealer and one was drop shipped from the factory. It was over-nighted and we were back on the water in 2 days. That was rudder, strut, prop, and a realigned shaft. That's funny, I almost typed shart!

Wow that is fast. We hit something underwater last Friday. Bent rudder back and to the left. Tore up prop, bent strut and prop shaft. Just got estimate $3000. According to the dealer at least 2 weeks to get parts from Malibu. All this damage from a left hand turn at less than 5mph. I wish it was only 2 days. I would just like to get the boat back this month.
