How do I remove the heater wall down by my feet?

Recommended Posts

I need some help. I'm in the middle of replacing my steering cable. It's turning into a bigger job then I expected. We finally got everything loose and were pulling the cable through. The problem is it's getting hung up were it comes through the floor. I need to remove the wall that the heater is attached to in order to get to the hole. I took the side panel out but it's still being held up by something. I have a 2003 Wakesetter VLX. Does anyone have any ideas?

There are about 4 or 5 screws that are hidden in the carpet.

Someone told me that they are hidden but I still can't find them. Do you have to pull the carpet back or what?

Thanks

Mine were angled down into the floor starting about 1/2 to 3/4 inch up from the bottom of that kick panel. 3 or 4 across the bottom and at least one on the starboard side into the little ledge. Trying running a thin putty knife under the edge of the panel to help in finding them.

Perhaps use a pin magnet to find??

Stainless steel fasteners = you won't find them with a magnet.

You can use a pick to find the head, they can be a pain to find but you'll get them eventually.

Thanks everyone. You're right, the screws were buried in the carpet. It took me 15-20 min to even find them but I did. Thanks!!

Thanks for everyone's help. I got the cable replaced and ready before the weekend. I couldn't be anymore happier. Everyone talks about turning with one finger and they are right. I feel like I got a brand new boat!!!
