Ethanol -free gasoline

Recommended Posts

Crew - I have worked in the small engine industry and the marine industry and can tell you ethanol is not good for many reasons, especially at levels above 10% which is where the gov't seems to be pushing towards. Older engines/boats may not have the materials in their fuel system to be fully compatible with Ethanol. You may not see the effects in the short term. Our large electronic fuel injection engines do well with calibrating for the burn by feeding data back to your computer to regulate air/fuel mix. If you have an older carb engine, I would try to stay away from E10 if it's possible. Most issues, as a lot of people know, is when Ethanol sits too long and absorbs water. Luckily I drive about 10 extra miles to get ethanol free fuel in the next county for my boat in the spring and fall. If I'm running a lot in the summer, I will put in E10. I would stay away from E15 or anything higher. A good example of what is happening with Ethanol is the Toro Snow Blower recall just announced. See what Ethanol did to the carb. Toro and Ethanol
