That's a big contract for Indmar to lose and a big change for Mastercraft!

upgrade from Indmar. Not that there is anything wrong with Indmar but Ilmor is a far superior engine builder with much deeper pockets for R&D. I am excited to see what they bring to the table.

Sounds like they are using the same basic GM motors. 5.7L...probably old school small block chevy and 6.0l and 6.2 are newer LS style.

The V10 is the Dodge Viper engine hot-rodded and marinized by Ilmor.

There are cast iron and aluminum versions.

However a look into GM Powertrain Marine shows where Indmar is getting it's GM 550hp LSA (CTS-V) engine.

Any marinizer can secure a deal with GM also.

Not at all surprising considering who has a stake in each company. Roger Penske is very good with business relationships. He now has one of his business interests feeding another. Somehow, I imagine Penske Trucking will also get some business out of the deal.

Everything that Penske touches turns to gold.

He was trying to buy Saturn but GM would not let him use his plants to keep the model going. He told Gm to shove it another good business decision by GM.

While Ilmor looks interesting as I do love the idea of a V-10, don't count Indmar out yet. Customers can choose an Indmar still.

MC Dealers will now have to stock engine components for both Indmar and Ilmor. That will be an added expense and complication.

interesting. i am only seeing the V-10 on their website though....

my thoughts exactly. 570hp-725hp sounds a little over kill to me. torque numbers are great though, but not sure my arms and shoulders can take that abuse. anybody got a guess on what the price tag will be? i say 8,500.00-13,000.00 better have deep pockets.

I don't think dealers inventory any of these types of products, you can even have a certified Indmar mechanic do warranty work without the dealer even being involved as long as it's under warranty. What could become a problem is if somebody requests a specific engine manufacture, that is where is get complicated.

Wonder why the move away from Indmar...as someone else said, it all comes down to dollars and cents, not always what is best for the customer.
