We'll see. If we like it (never been in a 247), the response will be going, the barefoot isn't a barefoot edition response, it's a barefoot nautique and it's only worth like 5k, I have it for sentimental reasons.

I don't want to speak too soon, but things are falling together nicely so far.

I always thought a 247 and a response cb would be EPIC at the cottage.

BTW, if given the choice what do you choose for footing? No sentimental reasons.

between what the barefoot or the response? easy, the barefoot nautique. It's a great barefoot boat.

I hope Congrats! I will document it all. I may need a shoulder to cry on. haha. I'll also document the road trip to pick it up with an 8.1 in the pickup bed in front of a 247! Honk if you see us!

Build process will begin in about 3 weeks. :yahoo: ....barring any unforseen circumstances

LOL!

Congrats on your new purchase! Looking forward to seeing the rebuild process.

And hows the skiing behind it, because I don't think you'll like the ski wake behind the 247 Crazy.gif

I'm curious, are you doing it for yourself or as a flip?

Because if you have a respinse, barefoot edition AND a 247, well I want your job!!!

I'd rather have a Flightcraft....

After a lot of help from D-Goose, WAAAY too much time scrutinizing pictures and one VERY long night last night from 2-4 am unloading an engine, I'm happy to report that the subject 247 is now ready for its re-birth. The list of things needed is long....even longer after I realized the ECM was missing this am :( . But, the boat has made it, and it's time to get to work. Long story short I was able to purchase the engine and interior, though the engine requires a LOT before it will run, although it is the original 8.1, which there is something to be said for I suppose. But if my dealer and friend is still optimistic, so am I. I've taken a lot of pictures and will post as things progress. Thank you to all the people who have emailed me their support and/or jealosy  , it has made me feel better about this project, which I was very afraid of, especially since I had never even seen the boat. Thanks for the support and I'll keep you updated!

There is a lot to be said for that. To be frank, you'd be lucky to get $35k for a 247 with a Monsoon. My eyes about popped out of my head when I read that earlier in the thread.

Happy to report that after roughly about 40 man hours, the 247 is running great with 3.5 hours on her. I'll do a complete write-up about the transformation with pictures but I'm too excited not to post.

Overall, very happy with the decision to buy. We had many snags, biggest of which was not ensuring the damper plate was removed (which it was) during the rebuild, thus we had to pull the tranny AGAIN, to install the damper plate. Anyone with any experience working with an 8.1 can attest there is not much room and it was very difficult to get the tranny remounted, but we managed. Plenty of expenses I wasn't planning on like new battery cabling to the engine, ECM, MDC, Pwedge controller, and others, but overall, for a 2007 247 hull that is actually in pretty darn good shape for 18k, I'm a happy guy. Thanks for all the PM's of support.

The "little stuff" is the stuff you don't think about or know about until you get into the middle of one of these projects. Without seeing the boat in person and comparing it to a complete 247, there is no way of knowing what is missing. I would hope your engine quote is for the Hammerhead or even better yet the 8.1, because these boats didn't come with the Monsoon. I am not saying you may not get a good deal by the time you are done, but I do not believe that you will come in at much less than $50K for the total project when all is said and done. I hope you prove me wrong

Fortunately, I did. Haven't added up recently but I should be under 33k after a moderately expensive stereo all told.

Good for you! I am glad to hear you were able to resurrect the boat and save some money.

Thanks, I'll get some pictures up soon. we had the entire interior inonly to have to remove it again for the tranny issue, so it's not back in yet, but at least she's on the water.

Boo ya! I'm glad to hear it turned out well! Rockon.gif I knew you've been working on it and have been wondering how it has been going, but didn't want to be "that guy" and bug you about the progress. LOL.gif

Looking forward to the pics and write up. Thumbup.gif

So are you at home working on the boat or at work or both? Just trying to figure out if you have you priorities straight ( work is over rated)
