Bent Prop Shaft help?

Recommended Posts

So my prop shaft is slightly bent right past the strut, do any of you Houston guys know of a machine shop around the Houston area that can straighten and mic the shaft??

I want to try to find an alternative for fixing this so I don't have to spend $500.....

first off if you can see the bend in the shaft, forget it and call discount inboard marine and get a new one.

i helped my cousin change his on his mastercraft. i pulled it and took it to the crankshaft shop i deal with.

we chucked it up in one of the lathes and ran a dail indicator on it. found it was only bent .007"

i couldn't believe how that lit bit could make the whole boat vibrate that bad. decided just to get a new one.

and problem solved.

I'm actually pulling mine out this weekend and taking it to a buddy that works at a machine shop to have it straightned, when you took yours did it fix it to where there is no vibration?
