Leaking Water Around Impeller At Crank

Recommended Posts

I took my 98 Response LX out yesterday and noticed water was present behind the impeller housing...closet to the crank. It's a pretty steady drip and is getting slung all over the engine box. I have replaced the impeller itself and the outer seal facing the front of the boat last season and never had a problem. This leak just seems to have started for not apparent cause or reason. Has anyone else sen this problem? What can be done to stop this leak?

Thanks in advance for any help!!!

How many hours on the raw water pump? Even though you replaced the seal, the bearing may be going out. You may have to replace the whole pump.

To my knowledge, the pump has to be about 5 yrs old...Think that's it?

Sure it's easy to replace.

Do you have a source you suggest for replacement part?

Guessing the pump is easier to replace than the bearings?

Thanks for the help...

Thanks for your help guys...

I went ahead and ordered another pump...

Looks like inboardonline has it a bit cheaper...

Simple fix, replacing the bearings did not look so easy...

Found a pdf from Indmar that broke it down.

Again, thanks for the help!!!
