Wheel Lug Torque Setting

Recommended Posts

I know this has been posted before but I couldn't find anything using the seaerch function. Anyone know what the wheel lugs on my Boatmate trailer wheels should be? Thanks in advance for the info.

It depends on what wheels you have. If they are stock steel wheels it's like 90 ft lb.

Really tight. Like the same torque as your commuter car wheels.

The 20" chrome wheels on my tow vehicle take 140 ft.lbs (according to NTB anyway, I asked). To my knowledge the wheels on my trailer are stock; chrome with the cutesy holes, pretty standard chrome trailer wheels. In the past I've just cranked them down hard. Finally broke down and bought a torque wrench last fall, thought I should use it at least a bit. Don't wanna overdo it though.

Ed, I looked it up in the book that came with my UFP hubs on my BM trailer. They spec 85-95 lbs/ft.

Thank you! Much appreciated.
