Any red flags on putting a 14 X 18 OJ prop on my 8.1L 23 LSV?

I have the stock Acme 817 on the boat now (hate it - totally a slug out of the hole).

I have recommendation requests into Acme & OJ currently but also have one of my old props from my VLX that I was thinking of putting on.

Anybody aware of any show-stoppers for doing this on my current boat (06 23 LSV with 8.1 L) ? I notice that most of the props for this boat are somewhere in the 14 X 14 range so was unsure if I should freak out about the 18 pitch and it was going to make my boat rev @ 6500 RPM...

Will a prop with an 18" pitch increase your hole shot over the Acme 817, which has a 17.5" pitch.

And you will not overrev your engine, it has a rev limiter built in, so no worries there.

I'm not planning on it being my long term solution - just a stop gap while I await a new prop in the mail.

The 18 pitch will still make it feel like a slug and may even be more of a slug with the larger surfice area. One thing you can do is take the prop down to a repair shop or send it back to OJ and have the pitch changed. Before doing this make sure to talk with Eric at OJ to make sure you pick the right pitch.

Make sure the prop will clear the trailer prop gaurd while its on the trailer.

Thanks for the suggestion(s)!
