Boat Bottom

Recommended Posts

I must have done this last Saturday launching the boat. We were on vacation, so it was in the water all week. Should I be concerned about damage already incurred? Also, would it be terrible to use it a few times before I get a chance to have it fixed. Now that we are home, it will be stored in my garage or on a lift. Finally, what should I expect a repair to cost?

Thanks in advance

I did pretty much the same damage to my boat at the end of last year. Ran me about $250 to get it fixed. Don't think it would be an issue to continue using the boat for a short period of time prior to getting it fixed, but would not wait too long.

I had the same size chips in the gel on my boat and I had it fixed for $200.Matching the color of the gel coat was a pain do to the age of my boat, you should be set there, I too would not wait to long to get it fixed.

I wouldn't think it would hurt to run it a few times till you can get a good repair. I remember patching something similar on a Sea Ray once with bathroom caulking. Yes, I know, someone out there is laughing right now. But remember, it was just a Sea Ray. It looked like crap but it did work.

Gel coat repairs are a one day job, with it being on the bottom you don't have to worry about color match. Also there is a video somewhere from one of the gel coat companies that tells and shows you how to do the repair yourself. Still a one day job. 200 t0250?? I think I would let a pro do it and use the boat until the appointment time.
