what rpms should a 94 sunsetter idle at? its a edlbrock 1409 carb and 350 motor, unsure of the tranny. its sitting at 500 now and just doesnt want to stay running

500 sounds low.

my port fi idles at 670-680.

i'd bump it up a bit and see if it will hold up.

According to service manual 650-700 is noraml range.

Ours idles pretty nice at 600. I lowered it from 700 after being woofed at by the patrol about throwing a "wake" in the no wake zone as we "screamed" under the bridge at a mind boggling 700 RPM.

I all seriousness, 500 is a bit low. Try setting your idle screw to 650 (referencing the tach). I bet she idles much much better.

god, always for get that part its a merc. i talked to a dealer today he said when he does carb work he always sets it towards 750, on the trailer at the shop hasnt really had people complain. so think tomorrow i will give it wirl... if it wasnt for stupid friends getting married id hit the lake ...still might and pack the tux change at a gas station smelling like sunscreen hahahha...

probably not the place but my x wife of 1.5 years (even though we tried to work it out 3 times since divorce) text me to day to tell me she is prego and going to hawaii to get hitched... wtf is up with that i know i shouldnt care but bugs the hell out of me... and she is leaving my daughter her with me, a plus for me but really? if i was gettin married think id want my daughter there.. not sure what bugs me more... happen to anyone else?

I got some looks and a few comments going through the marina with my 90 Skier at 650 in gear... it did push some water at that RPM. Lowered it to around to about 550 and the boat seemed to labor shifting in gear a bit. Set it to 600 RPM and it seemed to keep the BU and bi-standers happier. prop may make a difference? Maybe a little trial and error.

I hear ya. 650-700 seems to be a bit "fast" for the "law" on our lake. So far so good at 600. I can't go any lower so I hope they stay happy!
